The first Python for Finance Bootcamp strengthened the technological skills of students from the University of Cauca

The Department of Administrative Sciences of the University of Cauca held the First Python for Finance Bootcamp, an intensive academic event aimed at strengthening the technological and analytical competencies of students in the Business Administration program. The activity was organized by Professors Mg. Luis Ángel Meneses, Mg. Martha Lucía Acosta, and PhD Francisco Ortega, with the support of the Center for Continuing, Open, and Virtual Education (CECAV), the Financial Mindset Club, and students from the elective finance courses.

During the Bootcamp, practical training activities were carried out focused on the use of the programming language Python applied to financial analysis, including exercises related to the automation of calculations, the visualization of financial asset data, and support for business decision-making based on data. The academic session included the participation of expert professors from the national and international spheres, including Jerfenzon Salazar from the Antonio José Camacho University Institution; Jaime Carabalí, from the risk management area of Banco W; Francisco Obando, from the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications of the University of Cauca; Marlon Burbano, from the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences; and Arthur Serrato Cherres, from the Continental University of Peru.

The guests shared knowledge on contemporary tools for data analysis, programming, and their application in the field of corporate finance and financial markets.

For its part, the Department of Administrative Sciences, under the leadership of Professor Reinaldo Erazo, reaffirmed its commitment to “This type of academic space that seeks to deepen the incorporation of new technologies and programming languages in the business environment, promoting the development of analytical and digital skills in students, which are fundamental for decision-making in organizational settings increasingly oriented toward the use of data.”

With this initiative, the Department of Administrative Sciences reaffirms its commitment to educational innovation and to the education of professionals capable of integrating knowledge in administration, finance, and technology, thus strengthening the academic and professional profile of students at the University of Cauca.
