The University of Cauca successfully held Tramas y Mingas 2025, a space for encounter, dialogue, and collective weaving that brought together communities, students, professors, collectives, and territorial processes around art, education, communication, and the care of life. The activities took place at the Francisco Lemos Arboleda Auditorium of the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Telecommunications and in the courtyard of the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences, turning these venues into spaces for exchange and joint construction.
The first day began with the reception of participants and an opening ritual that included the planting of the Biocultural Garden, a symbolic gesture that marked the intention of the gathering: to cultivate thought, memory, and life. Following this moment, the thematic mingas brought together diverse experiences and significant processes:
The event also featured the premiere of the documentary “Maciceña Women: A Community Ethics of Care for Life,” an audiovisual piece that moved the audience with its narrative strength and its perspective on the collective work of women from the Colombian Massif. The afternoon concluded with a heartfelt tribute to teachers, recognizing their vocation, trajectory, and contribution to transformative education.
The second day continued with activities open to the public at the Faculty of Accounting, Economic and Administrative Sciences. Among the parallel exhibitions and workshops, attendees enjoyed spaces on emancipatory senses and childhoods, anthotype practices, home gardens, performances by the great chirimía band, as well as artistic, photographic, and agroecological exhibitions that reflected the diversity of voices and expressions present at the gathering.
The event concluded with a warm Community Pot, which brought participants together in a symbolic closing marked by solidarity, sharing, and the celebration of the bonds that are strengthened when the community comes together to weave life.
Tramas y Mingas 2025 left behind learnings, memories, and connections that will continue to nurture processes of care, resistance, and collective creation at the University of Cauca and in the surrounding territories.
