Student from Unicauca participates in academic mobility program in Brazil

As part of the ongoing collaboration between Professors Oscar Mauricio Caicedo from the University of Cauca and Nelson Luis Saldanha da Fonseca from the University of Campinas, Ángela Isabel Becerra Muñoz will take courses at the Brazilian university from February 24 to July 2.

Ángela Isabel Becerra Muñoz, an eighth-semester student of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering and member of the COMSOCAUCA research group, is undertaking an academic exchange in the city of Campinas, Brazil, from February 24 to July 12.

This academic mobility program is being carried out within the framework of the ongoing collaboration between Professors Oscar Mauricio Caicedo from the University of Cauca and Nelson Luis Saldanha da Fonseca from the University of Campinas.

Ángela Isabel Becerra Muñoz is the first undergraduate student from the Faculty of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Cauca to participate in an exchange under the collaboration between these two professors. During this academic program, she will take courses such as Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Introduction to Parallel Programming, Portuguese, and Research Project. Thanks to the latter course, she will also receive a scientific initiation scholarship.

Regarding the collaboration between Professors Oscar Caicedo and Nelson Fonseca, it is important to highlight that it initially arose within the framework of a dual doctoral degree agreement between the University of Campinas and the University of Cauca. Under this agreement, Felipe Estrada has already graduated, receiving a Doctorate in Telematics Engineering from Unicauca and a Doctorate in Computer Science from Unicamp.

Similarly, Edwin Ferney Castillo, a doctoral student in Telematics Engineering, is currently undergoing the same process to obtain the aforementioned degrees.

Within the context of the Unicamp–Unicauca academic mobility framework, several master’s and doctoral students have completed internships, including Ana Montoya, Master’s in Telematics Engineering, and master’s students Robinson Narváez and Angélica Serna, all from the Telematics Engineering program.
