The University of Cauca is making steady progress in strengthening its physical and academic infrastructure with the delivery of new spaces in the Faculty of Health Sciences and at its North Campus in Santander de Quilichao, the result of coordinated work among the Rector’s Office, the Administrative Vice-Rector’s Office, and the Office of Planning and Institutional Development, an institutional initiative aimed at improving the conditions for teaching, learning, and well-being of the university community.

In this way, the new user-friendly classrooms located in the Faculty of Health Sciences were unveiled, designed under criteria of functionality and comfort, with the capacity to benefit nearly 1,200 students per academic session, and which will be available during this first academic period of 2026. Thus, in a space attended by Rector Deibar René Hurtado, the vice-rectors, and the dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, the importance of these works for strengthening the well-being of the University of Cauca community was highlighted.

The adaptation of these spaces involved an investment of nearly $3 billion and was carried out over 11 months, reflecting the work led by the Administrative Vice-Rector’s Office in the responsible management of resources and in the technical monitoring of university infrastructure projects. Likewise, at the North Campus in Santander de Quilichao, progress was shared on a strategic project aimed at expanding coverage in the northern part of the department, an initiative that includes an approximate investment of $27 billion and seeks to ensure adequate academic and administrative spaces for the development of the university community.

These resources have made it possible to construct the main building, access roads, the multi-purpose court, the cultural kiosk, and the cafeteria, as well as to equip classrooms, administrative areas, and complementary spaces, consolidating a modern and functional infrastructure that today supports the academic life of the campus, where more than 1,500 students are currently enrolled in undergraduate programs in areas such as Civil Engineering, Agroecology, Law, Systems Engineering, and Ethnoeducation. Notably, this semester the university community is enthusiastically celebrating the opening of the Nursing program at the North Campus, a significant step that strengthens education in health and reaffirms Santander de Quilichao as a key academic hub for regional development.

In this setting, the new students of the Nursing program will have the opportunity to train in the Simulated Hospital, an academic environment equipped with state-of-the-art technology that will allow them to learn by doing, strengthen their skills through practice, and engage with the real challenges of healthcare. Thus, with these actions, the University of Cauca reaffirms its commitment as a public institution at the service of the territory, investing in quality infrastructure, relevant education, and social transformation, for the benefit of present and future generations, because the University of Cauca is #HeritageOfAll.
