Unicaucan Physiotherapy student carries out academic mobility and research in Spain

During the month of November, Cristina Inés Jiménez Ávila will undertake an academic mobility program at the University of Granada with the IDAFISAD Research Group.

Student Cristina Inés Jiménez Ávila, enrolled in the Advanced Elective in Physical Activity and Sport of the Physiotherapy program at the University of Cauca, is carrying out an international mobility experience during the month of November at the University of Granada with the IDAFISAD Research Group.

This mobility is possible thanks to the work of students and professors of the Physical Activity and Sport track, aimed at strengthening international and network-based collaborative work in research on Sports Physiotherapy and Sport Sciences. The objective of the mobility is to reinforce theoretical and practical knowledge in strength assessment and training through functional electromechanical dynamometry, with a focus on sports rehabilitation. Likewise, the aim is to advance research processes related to the functional management of ankle injuries in sports.

“This mobility represents an invaluable opportunity for me to strengthen my academic and research skills in an international context. The experience at the University of Granada, with access to new methodologies, work teams, and advanced tools in Functional Electromechanical Dynamometry, significantly enriches my education and prepares me for the challenges of contemporary sports physiotherapy, a field that sparks a deep professional interest in me,” stated student Cristina Inés Jiménez Ávila from Spain.

She added that all students, regardless of their field of study, should aspire to an international experience. “Living and learning in other countries not only allows us to discover new cultures, perspectives, and knowledge, but also provides us with essential tools that, upon returning, enable us to contribute in a more enriching way to our communities and to our own professional development.”

On the subject, Professor Andrés Felipe Villaquirán of the Physiotherapy program highlighted the importance of opening international mobility opportunities for students. “In this case, we feel proud of the interest shown by the student in building new knowledge for the Sport Sciences through research. We believe in high-quality education through mobility experiences that allow future physiotherapists to learn about advances in new technologies, engage in multidisciplinary experiences, build international networks, foster professional collaboration, and adapt to different cultural contexts, thus promoting personal and professional growth.”

Professor Villaquirán concluded that, as the Physical Activity and Sport track, these academic mobility experiences help strengthen research links and demonstrate the commitment to contributing to the consolidation of the Pleokinetic network.
