In this exciting journey we are undertaking toward institutional reaccreditation, the external follow-up audit conducted by ICONTEC, carried out in person from March 25 to 28, 2025, evaluated compliance with the regulatory requirements of the Integrated Management System (SIG) under the ISO 9001:2015 standard in each of the academic and administrative processes at the University of Cauca. The report highlighted the maturity of the management system, demonstrating the commitment of the human team to quality and compliance with the standard, which ensures the continuity of the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate, great news for this institution!
This is, without a doubt, an achievement that also constitutes another step in our journey toward institutional reaccreditation, a journey that will reach its destination in 2027. The overall outcome of this audit is a clear example of the commitment of every Unicauca student, faculty member, and staff member who has, to date, joined the accreditation effort to collectively advance the academic and administrative strengthening of our university.
Thus, the ICONTEC follow-up visit marks a milestone in this process, fostering a culture of excellence focused on meeting the needs of students, professors, administrative staff, and other stakeholders through the cycle of planning, doing, checking, and adjusting.
“This visit is key because it allows us to demonstrate that we are providing a quality public education service that meets the highest standards in terms of management, which helps show that our alignment between certification and accreditation is very important and consolidates a process that guides us toward our goal, which is institutional reaccreditation in 2027,” stated Dr. Alexander Buendía, Director of the Center for Quality Management and Institutional Accreditation, highlighting the importance of this audit as part of the institutional reaccreditation process.
In this way, the University of Cauca will continue working on risk identification, strengthening monitoring and measurement activities, and implementing actions regarding climate change, thus consolidating its leadership in higher education and ensuring excellence in all its processes (both academic and administrative).
Finally, this outcome reaffirms the institution’s commitment to high-quality education, reflecting a comprehensive vision that invites every member of the university community to join the reaccreditation journey. This journey toward excellence and continuous improvement is a collective effort, where each stop represents an achievement and an opportunity to strengthen our work: every member of the Unicauca community is a passenger committed to the mission of reaching a destination where quality and excellence continue to be an indelible mark. Congratulations to those who, through their daily and dedicated work, make things happen!
