Asecauca Alumni Association – Bogotá Chapter

The University of Cauca Alumni Association, Asecauca, Bogotá Chapter, was founded in 1977. A group of alumni residing in the country’s capital, led by attorney and then-President of the Senate Mario S. Vivas Tróchez, set out to establish the organization. On September 28, 1978, the Assembly approved the Bylaws and requested government approval of its legal status. The Ministry of Justice responded by granting legal status to Asecauca, Bogotá Chapter, pursuant to Resolution 4728 of 1980.

As an affiliate of the University of Cauca Alumni Association, the Bogotá Chapter began its activities by establishing a Board of Directors composed of Oswaldo Rengifo Otero and Mario S. Vivas Tróchez; Honorary President, Alberto Albán Liévano; Treasurer, José Enrique Arboleda Valencia; Statutory Auditor, Liga Ante de Parra; Secretary, Ricardo Quintero Rivera; and Board Members: Jaime Paredes Pardo, Álvaro Orejuela Gómez, Antonio José Tafur Muñoz, Miguel Paz López, Luis Fernando Paredes Arboleda, Otto Morales Benítez, María Teresa Tejada Arturo, Mario Enrique Pérez Velasco, Gustavo Duarte Uribe, Gerardo Amézquita Plazas, Alfonso Cabra Lara, Juan Sepúlveda, and Tito Mosquera Irurita. Having completed its initial activities, the Board of Directors convened a new General Assembly held at Casa del Cauca in Bogotá on September 29, 1978, where the Bylaws were approved and the new officers were elected as follows: Mario S. Vivas Tróchez, President; Álvaro Orejuela Gómez, First Vice President; Eduardo Forero, Second Vice President; José Enrique Arboleda Valencia, Treasurer; Ricardo Quintero Rivera, Secretary; Socorro Zúñiga, Statutory Auditor; and Board Members: Gerardo Paris García, Luis Fernando Paredes Arboleda, and Jesús Helí Giraldo. Martha Ilse Tejada Arturo was appointed Chapter Coordinator.

Currently, the President of the Board of Directors of Asecauca Bogotá Chapter is Jesús Helí Giraldo Giraldo, a Civil Engineering alumnus.

The Association is registered with the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce under Registration S0007910 of April 30, 1998, and with the DIAN under RUT (NIT) No. 830101787.
