The Vice-Rectorate for Research – VRI of the University of Cauca is responsible for coordinating and implementing the Research, Development, and Innovation System, regulated by Agreement 047 of 2011, which was conceived with the purpose of promoting research, encouraging the creation and consolidation of research groups aligned with public policies on science and technology, through research, technological development and innovation activities, advanced education, and engagement with the surrounding environment. To fulfill its objectives, it is essential that this System be organically integrated with the academic, administrative, financial, and culture and Wellness systems.
Agreement 015 of 2015, which establishes the Research System, promotes research as a complex, creative, and systematic process carried out with the purpose of achieving knowledge and understanding in the basic, social, human, and applied sciences, as well as in the arts and culture. In this way, the University of Cauca fulfills its mission of fostering “… The creation and dissemination of knowledge, technique, technology, art, and culture through teaching, research, and social outreach within an ethical, democratic, and participatory environment, in harmony with the surrounding environment.”
We contribute to the search for international resources for research and to building relationships with international peers. To fulfill its objectives, the Research System must be integrated with the academic, administrative, financial, and culture and Wellness systems. Superior Agreement 015 of 2015 (establishing the Research System of the University of Cauca) adopts the new Research System of the University of Cauca. The emergence of new funding sources for science, technology, and innovation research projects at the national and international levels, such as the General Royalties System (SGR), together with new institutional dynamics related to academic and administrative modernization, regionalization, the Institutional Development Plan 2023–2027, and the Bicentennial Strategic Plan 2027, require the University of Cauca to adapt its Research System.
To organize, lead, and strengthen the Institutional Research System by promoting collaboration among society, the State, and external organizations based on the appropriation and development of scientific and technological knowledge and community-based knowledge, so that the actions undertaken contribute to improving the well-being of the regional community.
The Vice-Rectorate for Research will be the body that effectively promotes the pursuit of scientific, technological, humanistic, artistic, and socioeconomic knowledge at the University of Cauca.
To consolidate research as a core institutional activity that promotes relationships between the university community and other social actors, for the recognition, generation, systematization, deepening, and expansion of scientific, artistic, humanistic, and technological knowledge, expertise, and practices, with a sense of ethical, social, and environmental responsibility, consistent with regional, national, and international realities.
.
“I am proud to be part of a university community committed to generating knowledge and driving social transformation through research. I am convinced that together we can continue fostering development and innovation in our department.”
The Vice-Rectorate for Research carries out its activities through the work of its direct support team and its three components: the Research Management Division, the Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Engagement with the Environment Division (DAE), and the Editorial Development Area.
