Since the year 2000, Professor Patricia Chamorro has been an essential part of the Physiotherapy program, leaving an indelible mark on every student who has passed through her classrooms. Trained as a physiotherapist at the National University, with postgraduate degrees in Social Management and a master’s in Interdisciplinary Development Studies, Professor Patricia not only shares her vast experience but also her passion and unwavering commitment to the training of new generations in this prestigious house of thought.
With more than three decades of professional experience and 25 years dedicated to university teaching, her career has been characterized by exceptional dedication. She has coordinated the program, led quality processes for nine years, and actively participated in all three program accreditations. Moreover, she is a recognized authority in the field of neurorehabilitation, where she has excelled as a researcher and educator. Her legacy stands as a living testament to the positive impact a teacher can have when fully committed to their field of expertise.
But beyond titles and achievements, her legacy lives in the words of those who shared classrooms and academic life with her. As expressed by Professor Diana Rivera, a graduate of the program, former student, and now colleague: “Professor Patricia is an exceptionally intelligent woman, a distinguished professional in the neurological field. She has a beautiful combination of pragmatism and sensitivity. She is strict, but with a great sense of humor, warm in her leadership. She has always been a role model and a wonderful companion, funny, outgoing, serious, someone who calls for order… but also breaks it with her joy.”
Indeed, the University of Cauca not only transforms lives through education but also allows dreams to take shape through camaraderie, friendships, and the hearts that meet in this space, which for many feels like home. In this regard, Professor Diana fondly recalls the leadership of this remarkable Unicaucana in the accreditation processes: “She is a committed woman, fully dedicated, passionate about knowledge, research, and staying up to date. She is an example for many professors and graduates. She has carried the name of the Physiotherapy Program professor with pride.”
Likewise, with a tone of admiration and affection, Professor Diana sends a message that captures the sentiment of the entire community:
“We sincerely hope that this new stage comes with peace, happiness, and well-being. May you dedicate time to yourself, to your loved ones, and enjoy the things that working life sometimes does not allow. Your legacy remains, and your name will always be associated with the affection, gratitude, and respect of those of us who have shared this journey.”
It is therefore inevitable, as the alma mater of Cauca, not to celebrate Professor Patricia’s extensive career. Today, on behalf of our community, we acknowledge her dedication and wish her the very best in every step ahead, confident that life will continue to bring her reasons to smile. Thank you for so much, Professor Patricia! May this new stage be filled with joyful moments and stories to share. At Unicauca, your home, the legacy you leave behind will always remain present.
