The purpose of this tour is to present all the economic education programs offered by the Banco de la República, which, through Banrep Educa, are readily accessible so that university students studying Economics, as well as related fields, can participate in them. The good news is that students pursuing other degrees are not left out: they can apply to internship programs and study opportunities abroad.
In this regard, the Banco de la República offers scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies abroad in areas such as Economics, Public Policy, Public Administration, Economic Law, and Fine Arts. The idea is for university students to be aware of these opportunities so that they can prepare the required documentation on time and apply for these benefits that can help make their dreams a reality.
But what is Banrep Educa? It is the economic education program of the Banco de la República, which was launched over a decade ago with the main goal of fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of the Banco de la República’s role in the Colombian economy and society, its objectives, its functions, and how the decisions of this institution relate to our daily lives and well-being.
The Economic Education Department aims to make all economic definitions and concepts clear, simple, and easily accessible to a broader audience, including both economics students and members of non-specialized groups. If this topic interests you, on the top blue banner of the Banco de la República’s website, by clicking the Economic Education button, you can access all the information about courses, contests, and available educational resources, it’s that simple!
Returning to this outreach activity, which we warmly hosted at Unicauca, an introduction to Bre-B was also provided, Colombia’s new interoperable instant payment system. This system will allow payments and transfers to be made instantly, regardless of the financial institution where the account or electronic deposit is held. The goal is for transactions to be completed in a maximum of 20 seconds at any time of the week, 365 days a year. Although this service will be available starting in September 2025, voluntary registration of user keys at the respective banking institutions will begin next July. Everyone is invited to stay informed about updates regarding this exciting process.
From our university, we are truly excited to be chosen as a venue for representatives of national institutions to visit and share information with our enthusiastic students, information that has the potential to transform lives.
