The Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Well-being is the administrative unit responsible for coordinating, supporting, and promoting the Alma Mater’s various initiatives in the areas of sports, recreation, arts, cultural heritage, and the health of the university community. The foregoing is based on human development, conceived through spirituality, affectivity, and physical well-being as the fundamental pillars of the university community’s proper performance in the Social-Environmental-Economic spheres; thus ensuring favorable conditions to foster, within the educational environment, the appropriation and implementation of the guidelines established by the Ministry of Education and adopted by ASCUN: Comprehensive Education, Quality of Life, and Community Building.
The Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Well-being of the University of Cauca is composed of four administrative units that work specifically on the aspects mentioned above, and it is also responsible for the University Residences. In addition, the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Well-being is in charge of assisting students who require financial support for their academic programs in obtaining ICETEX loans, as well as handling procedures related to the university student insurance program.
Culture at the University of Cauca is expressed as a network of social configurations, power relations, historicity, symbolic frameworks, and meanings, arising from ethnic, gender, sexual, social, economic, generational, ideological, and religious diversity, as well as from creative manifestations and expressions that make up the human collective of the University of Cauca.
Well-being at the University of Cauca conceives of the university community member as an essential subject in their comprehensive education and in human, social, cultural, and good living development, as well as in the care of life, both individually and collectively; fostering recognition, respect, and coexistence among members of the university community, the environment, the region, and the country.
“Solidarity, love, and simplicity, important aspects for achieving human and professional development. Elements for building well-being and university life.”
