Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Well-being

Division of Cultural Management

The University of Cauca, through its Culture and Well-being process, has implemented programs and projects aimed at building a framework for the cultural development of individuals. Despite the actions described above and the consolidation of a university cultural agenda, members of the University community do not recognize themselves as cultural subjects. Consequently, the role of cultures within the University’s institutional initiatives is often misunderstood, leading to a lack of recognition of these areas as key contributors to the University’s engagement with its surrounding environment.

Therefore, the relevance of this project lies in understanding that many communities preserve their existence through their traditions, which remain alive and meaningful, while reflecting their contexts, geography, and ways of expressing and manifesting their cultures. To this end, the University has incorporated the University Culture and Heritage program into the 2023–2027 Institutional Development Plan (PDI).

This university program proposes the need to establish systemic processes and procedures related to cultures, applied to work within a university cultural ecosystem connected with the territory and other organizations. This approach makes it possible to formalize and plan forward-looking actions aligned with regional contexts, engaging cultural stakeholders across the territories and fostering the coordination of cultural processes with territorial entities and other public or private organizations that strengthen, shape, and make visible the University’s cultural work throughout the national territory.
