University of Cauca
From 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
As part of the 30th anniversary of the creation of the Physical Engineering program, the VIII National Congress of Physical Engineering and the III International Applied Physics, Engineering, and Innovation Conference will be held from October 20 to 24 at the University of Cauca facilities. This event is presented as a meeting space for the community of physical engineering students and alumni in Colombia and around the world. Likewise, the event joins the celebration of the declaration by UNESCO of the year 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ). In this context, invited speakers will keep attendees informed about advances in quantum physics in fields as diverse as theory, optics, and quantum computing.
The agenda will be developed in two parts. The first part will consist of a series of workshops on topics such as Remote Sensing, Quantum Computing, Machine Learning, Marine Sciences, and Materials Science, which will be led by alumni of the Physical Engineering program who are experts in these areas.
In the second part, poster presentations, oral presentations, and keynote lectures will be delivered by invited experts such as Pablo Cornaglia (Balseiro Institute, Argentina), MSc. Martha Bastidas (University of Magdalena, Colombia), Phys. Eng. Laura Vásquez (CIOH-DIMAR Pacific), and Dr. Lorena García Posada (Central University, Colombia).
The event is supported by an International Scientific Committee composed of Dr. Francisco H. Sánchez, National University of La Plata (Argentina), Dr. Marcelo Knobel, University of Campinas (Brazil), Dr. Lorena García Posada, Founder of the National Semiconductor Network, and Dr. Leandro Socolovsky from the National Technological University, Santa Cruz Regional Faculty (Argentina).
The organizing committee is composed of professors from the Department of Physics: Dr. Mónica Andrea Vargas, Dr. Jhon Alejandro Andrade, Dr. Willfrand Pérez, and Dr. Diego Fernando Coral, together with the Colombian Society of Physical Engineering and the Cauca Chapter of Physical Engineering.
