Contemporary Exhibition Hall

The main activities carried out in the Contemporary Exhibition Hall are:

Degree project defenses for Visual Arts in the Research-Creation modality.
Final presentations of courses in the area of education in the fields of painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and printmaking.
Partial and final presentations and installation tests for courses in the Area of Specialization, such as optional workshops in two-dimensional and three-dimensional art, levels 1, 2, and 3, and Specialization levels 1 and 2.
Annual exhibition of the Ever Astudillo Hall, which has been held in 5 editions.
Annual exhibition of the “To See You Better” Video Art Festival, which has had 16 editions.
Research results from sabbatical years of the Program’s faculty members.
Exhibitions of the results of interinstitutional agreements or national and international artistic exchanges, such as the one held this year for Holy Week, “One World Curated by Manish Lal Shrestha,” International Print Exchange Programme (IPEP) India.

Events Held

International Print Exchange Programme (IPEP) India 2022

IPEP India is a non-profit initiative through which printmakers exchange their work with others around the world.

Participants display the IPEP India portfolio, either individually or collectively, in their places of origin and expand their own collections. In this way, their work is exhibited internationally. IPEP India promotes networks among printmakers and raises public awareness of printmaking as an art form.

The IPEP India 2022 exhibition in Colombia was organized by Orlando Martínez Vesga, in collaboration with Jim Fannkugen Salas. Both are full-time faculty members affiliated with the Department of Visual Arts of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cauca.

The exhibition was held from March 20 to April 3, 2024, at the Contemporary Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cauca.

Landscapes of Cauca

Paisajes Caucanos (Landscapes of Cauca) presents a selection of recent paintings by Orlando Martínez Vesga. These works were created during field trips to rural areas of the department of Cauca: Piendamó, Silvia, Totoró, Inzá, Gabriel López, Turminá, and El Valle de Malvazá. The project, which began 14 years ago, includes photographic records, sketchbooks, and small-format oil paintings on various surfaces (canvas, cardboard, paper, wood, copper, and aluminum).

The “Paisajes Caucanos” (Landscapes of Cauca) exhibition was organized by Orlando Martínez Vesga, in collaboration with Jim Fannkugen Salas. Both are full-time faculty members affiliated with the Department of Visual Arts of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Cauca.
