Mission
The Philosophy Program is committed to educating individuals capable of thinking with philosophical rigor, addressing the topics of the Problematic Fields (Philosophy of Art and Culture, Philosophy of Science and Methodology, Ethics and Philosophy of Science, Philosophical Thought, and History of Philosophy), the different universes of meaning within which they conduct their work, responding to their own philosophical interests and to the challenges posed by society and culture in their different contexts.
Vision
The Philosophy Program responds to the theoretical interest and need to study and critically and problematically engage with the tradition of Western thought, understood as a cultural universe in which philosophizing defines and renews over time the major questions and fundamental themes that, revisited from our contemporary perspective, generate a multifaceted dialogue with art, culture, science, ethics, technology, politics, history, and society as a whole.
The Department of Philosophy has access to the various educational resources available to any academic department at the University of Cauca. These include the Library System, with five operating units; databases with the capacity to search for bibliographic information; and audiovisual equipment belonging to the Communications Division of this educational institution.
In addition, it has overhead projectors, slide projectors, video beam projectors, televisions, digital cameras, sound equipment, video cameras, VHS, and an international television service that allows it to complement the comprehensive education of its students in technical, cultural, and recreational topics.
