Immediate Transition to Higher Education Program – PTIES University of Cauca

PTIES – UNICAUCA is a comprehensive initiative that seeks to improve access to and the quality of higher education in the Department of Cauca. This program focuses on students in ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades from the Northern, Central, Eastern, Western, and Southern regions of the Department.

General Objective

Support the educational and training processes of students and teachers in upper secondary education at educational institutions in the municipalities of the Department of Cauca, aimed at improving the transition rate to Higher Education.

Specific Objectives

Strengthen the pedagogical and methodological competencies of teachers in the municipalities of the Department of Cauca.
Implementation of an academic assessment for students taking the Saber 11 examinations, updated to reflect the specific regional dynamics of the territories and regions of the Department of Cauca.
Strengthen the academic competencies of upper secondary education students in the municipalities of the Pacific Coast, Northern, Central, and Southern Nodes of the Department of Cauca.

Functions

1 Academic Strengthening

Implementation of innovative pedagogical strategies, content updates, and the strengthening of basic competencies in key areas such as mathematics, science, and technology.

2 Academic Strengthening

Development of programs that help students explore their interests, aptitudes, and career options, thereby facilitating informed decision-making about their educational future.

3 Academic Strengthening

Continuing education programs for teachers, aimed at improving teaching methodologies by adopting more participatory and up-to-date approaches.

5 Interinstitutional Partnerships

Collaboration with municipal governments, departmental governments, the Ministry of National Education, educational institutions, and other key stakeholders to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of the program.

6 Psychosocial Support

Provide emotional and psychological support to students, thereby addressing potential personal barriers that could affect their academic performance and decision-making.
