The Vice-Rectorate for Research, through the creation of the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Engagement with the Environment Division (DAE) as the University of Cauca’s technology transfer unit, responsible for supporting R&D&I activities, knowledge management, and intellectual property, facilitates the University’s engagement with the business sector and society in general.

Along the same lines, the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and Well-Being, through Agreement 018 of 2012, establishes and regulates the University Social Service Volunteer option, an activity that enables students to undergo a training process in technical, social, and political fields, through which they provide service to an organization, the community, or the environment voluntarily and of their own free will, within the framework of a civil and voluntary relationship.

At the Faculty level, the Educational Projects of the Programs establish guidelines for engagement with the environment and social interaction. In general, strategies are implemented to ensure that students remain in permanent contact with the environment, particularly with local and regional issues in the agricultural and rural sectors, from a scientific, technical, social, cultural, economic, and administrative perspective, through the formulation of different alternatives duly supported and advised by professors from the Faculty and the University.

Through this, the aim is to train professionals committed to the social, economic, environmental, and productive development of Cauca and the southwestern region of the country in general. In accordance with University guidelines and the programs created by the Vice-Rectorates for Research and Culture and Well-Being, the Faculty supports and promotes the development of projects and activities related to extension or social outreach.
