Program Description

The Program aims to provide comprehensive training for research-oriented anthropologists through the effective integration of research into academic education.

Furthermore, it provides interdisciplinary training through courses that bring together various disciplinary perspectives and through curricular flexibility, which gives students the opportunity, starting in the second semester, to take some courses in other departments of the University of Cauca or even at other universities that offer related programs and with which the University of Cauca has agreements or may establish them.

Studying for a Master’s Program in Anthropology provides comprehensive training as a researcher, integrating research with academic education and promoting interdisciplinarity through courses that bring together different disciplinary perspectives. Curricular flexibility allows students to personalize their education and take courses in other departments or affiliated universities, enriching their academic experience. In addition, the possibility of establishing agreements with other institutions expands opportunities for collaboration and access to additional resources, making this master’s program an attractive option for those interested in deepening their understanding of cultural and social diversity around the world.

General Program Objective

  • Promote critical ethnographic research as a social practice that contributes to decolonization.
  • Consolidate the research experience of the proposing research groups and their role in graduate-level education within the university and social spheres.
  • Promote forms of collaborative research among researchers from diverse disciplines and social actors in the analysis, interpretation, and explanation of social phenomena, as well as in the formulation of proposals and initiatives that contribute to improving intercultural and social relations among the human groups with which they interact.
