It is an event that seeks to showcase to the people of Popayán the knowledge acquired academically by students in the Graphic Design program. It demonstrates creativity, innovation, and solutions to different community problems through this discipline, thus fostering greater interaction among the public, students, and faculty members.
It is a video art festival organized by students from the Visual Arts program, where they exhibit their work and also pay tribute to national and international artists in the Contemporary Exhibition Hall, located on the first floor of the courtyard known as La Palomera. The event is held annually and is open to the public.
It is a space dedicated to paying tribute to the artist Ever Astudillo, who was a faculty member of the Alma Mater’s Faculty of Arts for 30 years, where artists, students, and faculty members present artistic interpretations of symbolic scenes of the human body within a specific context. The Exhibition Hall is located in the Faculty’s Exhibition Room and is open to the public.
It includes initiatives such as Chirimías Caucanas and Traditional Music, which promote the traditional repertoire, and the University of Cauca Student Ensemble, focused on Andean music. Also noteworthy are the Symphonic Conducting Workshop, which benefits conductors and musicians, and the Bicentennial Symphony Orchestra, which promotes academic practice and international mobility. This project strengthens musical education at the University of Cauca and in the region.
Originally, this historic house was built in 1809 and belonged to Jerónimo de Torres Tenorio, brother of Camilo Torres. In the mid-19th century, its new owners divided it into three different houses: Casa Angulo (which today corresponds to the main courtyard); Casa Arboleda (a four-story building located at the rear, known as La Palomera); and Casa Llanos, which corresponds to the area where the cafeteria is now located. The University of Cauca first acquired Casa Angulo in 1973, followed by Casa Arboleda and, lastly, Casa Llanos. These historic houses were restored in 1985 after the earthquake that struck the city in 1983. Until the late 1980s, the Faculty of Humanities operated there, after which it moved to the El Carmen Cloister. The Departments of Music and Visual Arts, as well as the Conservatory, operate in this building.
